Northlake Rotary Club Goals for the 2008 - 2008
DeKalb Youth Symphony - Bob Wallace
reported that the symphony's performance at Charter Night was a big
hit, and noted they would be available to us in the future.
Armed Forces/Airport
- Eleven (11) club members signed up to work at the airport, under the
direction of the USO, to assist members of the armed forces upon
arrival.
Club membership roll - The club's 2008-2009 goal is a net 10% membership increase.
George Spencer will be asked to make needed contacts, and McClellon Cox
volunteered to speak with a member.
Gates Foundation Challenge
- Bob Wallace distributed a FAQ sheet from The Rotary Foundation. It
details the Gates Foundation award of a $100-million grant, which
Rotary will match over three years.
Refugee Family Services Summer Camp -
It was suggested and discussed that the club help with costs for
supplies and materials needed by the RFS camp.
DeKalb Chamber of Commerce PR Guide
- Bob Wallace reported that he had authorized payment to the
DCC for the club's listing along with the other DeKalb County Rotary
Clubs.
International Project / Kenya - This is a major
project and clean water and school/literacy are the components. George
Spencer has the information on this topic.
Rotary Bequest Society - A recent email was distributed to encourage Rotarians to support this society.
Board meeting time and place
- It was agreed that the future meetings would be the last Wednesday of
the month at 5 p.m. Future locations for the meeting need to be
identified.
New Generations - Wayne Rush has volunteered to lead New Generations.
The NORTLAKE PILOT - Art Rosser will continue to edit our weekly bulletin. Most 2007 - 2008 copies are on-line in the "Our Newsletter" section.
